No market for it

This is Ventimiglia market, half-way through the morning on a wet and windy day. Hardly any of the traders thought it worth their while opening up; they just sat in their vans or chatted with each other before calling the whole thing off.

080104-1Although today was relatively mild, it’s been unusually cold for the time of year. Yesterday, just a few miles inland there was snow on the lower mountains; here’s one of the local villages with snow-brushed hills surrounding it. This was a particularly gloomy day; the photo was taken just after noon.
